Important Information

We ship to as many global locations as possible using a number of different carriers, but there are some restrictions - please check that we can deliver to your location before bidding in our online auctions.

Important: We regret to announce that we currently cannot ship to Sweden, Spain, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia, Italy or France. All bottles in storage from these countries can email us at [email protected] for further steps.

USA

Customs (Updated 01/09/2025)

There are currently severe delays at US customs which is impacting the delivery time of all USA shipments. Please expect significant transit delays until US Customs clears the backlog. Packages can be delivered between 1-6 weeks after ordering. 

Tariffs (Updated 28/08/2025)

US trade tariffs are based on the country where the goods are produced, and the tariff percentage varies depending on the country of origin. These tariffs are applied at checkout and are calculated based on the total value of the goods.

Most notable are: 

UK: 10%

EEC: 15%

Japan: 25%

Please ensure you are familiar with and accept the shipping charges before bidding.

UAE & Russia

Please note: We do not ship to the UAE or Russia. However, if you would like to arrange your own shipping, we can pack your order for a small fee.

BREXIT

Important changes and updates since the 1st of January 2021: 

VAT on The Grand Whisky Auction Invoices: VAT will not be charged by The Grand Whisky Auction for goods or services leaving the UK.

EU customs, duties, VAT or fees: These will be calculated in accordance with local government customs rules when bottles arrive at the border of the country of destination.  The VAT rate charged will vary depending on your location.  We would strongly advise checking local government guidance prior to placing bids.   

DHL, UPS or your local customs office will contact you for payment when your shipment arrives at the border. 

Note: We can not provide refunds on orders which are delayed or returned to us due to any unpaid custom charges or for any administrative reasons.

Shipping Services:  Please expect order processing times for dispatch to be longer and transit times to be increased as there may still be delays to some destinations.

Worldwide Shipment & Customs:

All local customs/duties are the sole responsibility of the buyer and they must adhere to such laws when bidding with The Grand Whisky Auction Ltd. 

Insurance Note:

Shipping insurance (Loss & Breakage) is added at 3% of the hammer price or a minimum of £14, whichever applies first and as standard. No claim can be lodged against leakage or damage in transit due to the varying age of bottles and the condition of bottle seals. 

Large Order Notice:

The estimated amounts shown in the table opposite are based on a 2kg bottle. Should an order be placed that the volumetric weight is greater than the actual weight the difference in cost is to be paid by the buyer.
