Description

Matured in both American and European Oak casks, this single malt from Speyside has matured for 30 years.
It has a whisky tint of 17 and tasting notes of vanilla and sandalwood.

One of Bob Dalgarno's finest whiskies.

The "rare issue" is a famous transition period in Macallan's history (around 2017–2018) when they retired the "Fine Oak" name and replaced it with "Triple Cask Matured. This is a one-off batch which highlights both the new branding after 2018 and the old branding before 2018, all on the one bottle and box, labelling and markings.

The "crossover" bottles are actually highly sought after because they are often confirmed to contain the "Old Style" Fine Oak liquid, which many purists prefer even if they are sitting in the "New Style" Triple Cask packaging.

Bottling Date: April 9, 2017
Bottle Code: L0129S
The code L0129S L4 09/04/17 17:16 (9th April 2017) places this bottle at the centre of the "rare issue" involving the brand's shift from Fine Oak to Triple Cask Matured.

Because this was bottled in April 2017, the whisky inside was vatted while the product was still officially called Fine Oak.  The bottle that says "Triple Cask Matured" on the outside, but it is 100% a "Fine Oak" on the inside.

Many connoisseurs believe this specific "Hybrid" batch (L0129S) contains the superior, more complex sherry-heavy liquid of the original 30-year-old series, rather than the later Triple Cask versions, which became more "oak-forward".

This specific combination (Double-branded label + Blue theme + 2017 date) is highly prized because it marks the exact day Macallan changed its identity.
