Description
Highland Park was founded in 1798 on Orkney and is one of Scotland’s northernmost distilleries. Known for its balance of gentle smoke, honey sweetness, and heathery character, the distillery uses local Orkney peat and maintains traditional floor maltings for a portion of its production. Now owned by Edrington, Highland Park offers a wide range of age-stated and Viking-themed bottlings. Its maritime climate and unique peat composition contribute to a distinctive flavour profile that blends smoke, spice, and aromatic sweetness.
This Highland Park 50 Year Old single malt was distilled in 1964 and matured in two sherry seasoned hogsheads until January 2010, when they were married together and vatted with some 1960 whisky before being returned to their hogsheads and left for eight more years. There were only 274 bottles produced, and each bottle is presented in a handcrafted oak box along with a silver-plated crystal decanter.
