Description

Founded in 1885 by independent blenders seeking freedom from DCL’s dominance, North British in Edinburgh is now one of Scotland’s largest grain distilleries. It produces grain whisky primarily from maize, used extensively in blends such as Famous Grouse and Johnnie Walker. While official single-grain releases are rare, independent bottlings reveal a sweet, creamy, vanilla-driven profile. The distillery remains jointly owned by Edrington and Diageo and continues as an essential component of the Scotch industry’s blending infrastructure.

Distilled in August 1991 and released as part of the Rare Auld Scotch Grain bottlings by Duncan Taylor. This 25-year-old North British was bottled in April 2017 at a cask strength of 52.6% ABV. Matured in a single cask #5913009, this is one of 179 bottles.

The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
