Founded in 1823 in Dufftown, Mortlach is the town’s oldest distillery and is famed for its unique “2.81 times” partial triple-distillation process. This method, combined with worm-tub condensers, creates a dense, meaty, savoury spirit often called “the Beast of Dufftown.” Mortlach has long been prized by blenders, particularly Johnnie Walker. Official bottlings were rare until a luxury range launch in the 2010s. Modern expressions highlight rich umami notes, dried fruit, and dark chocolate. Mortlach is considered one of Speyside’s most distinctive and powerful malts.
Mortlach x Starck L’Evolution Collection Become is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky launched in 2024. A rare collaboration between Philippe Starck and Mortlach distillery.
Become is one of three expressions in the distillery's L'Evolution Collection, designed by French architect and distillery creative director, Philippe Starck. Alongside the Begin new make spirit and Beyond single malt expressions, the three elaborate spirits are presented in the classic rectangular bottle, surrounded in an ornate 3D-printed rippled plastic cage.

If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
