Description

The Balvenie Distillery is a large distillery located in Speyside, neighbouring Glenfiddich and Kininvie. The distillery was built by William Grant in 1892 shortly before production began just a year later. Capacity at Balvenie was doubled in 1957, meaning the addition of two stills was much needed. A further two were later added, to make a total of 8 stills in 1965 to keep up with the increase in production capacity.

Balvenie have reached Chapter Three of the DCS Compendium - a series of extraordinary releases celebrating the five decades that Malt Master David C. Stewart has been working for the distillery in Speyside. Chapter 3 is titled 'Secrets of the Stock Model', and gives light to the Malt Master's tough task of controlling all manner of variables impacting the maturing whisky stocks. This chapter features five different expressions, each drawn from a single cask, including whisky distilled in 2004, 1993, 1981, 1973 and 1961. That last one, by the way, is the oldest whisky released by Balvenie to the public to date - a 55-year-old Balvenie single malt. Cor.
