Description

Ballindoch Distillery is located in Banffshire, in the heart of Speyside on the banks of the River Avon, sitting within the grounds of Ballindalloch Castle and is home to the Macpherson-Grant family since the castle was built in 1546. The Barley used is grown on the estate and the spirit matured there, allowing it to be proclaimed as 'Scotland's first single estate distillery'. It was also among the first in the recent new wave of craft single malt distilleries within the last decade. They handcraft their small-batch single-estate whisky just like their ancestors did over two centuries ago.
The Macpherson-Grants have committed to waiting at least eight years before bottling any of Ballindalloch’s whisky. Production started in late September 2014 with the first two distillery exclusive single cask releases being bottled in June 2023 at natural cask strength.

  • Cask #47 was distilled on the 4th of February 2016 and matured in an Ex-Bourbon Hogshead at 61.9% ABV. This is one of only 480 bottles.
  • Cask #474 was distilled on the 10th of September 2015 and matured in an Oloroso Sherry Butt at 62.1% ABV.

The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
