Description

This Macallan is such an intense and rich release that has an incredible 40 year history. At the time of its release in 2017, it was the pinnacle of the Sherry oak range and was a testament to the exceptional oak casks used in its maturation.

Three cask types were used -

1) A European oak sherry butt

2) A European oak sherry hogshead

3) An American oak sherry butt

Only 465 of these bottles with a deep copper colour were ever released under the guidance of Nick Savage, the master distiller at the time.

PLEASE NOTE: The wax rosette on these bottles are fragile by age/design and as such are not insured in transit. Therefore, as stated in our T&C’s, we do not and will not accept liability should the rosette be breached, broken, split or cracked in transit. By bidding on this lot you have understood this to be true and no claims can be made/no refunds given should an issue arise in transit. Insurance is for complete breakage of the bottle or loss in transit only.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.

Graphs are for information purposes only. TGWA accepts no responsibility for any errors or omissions in the data plotted. All bidders should also carry out their own research prior to any bids being placed.
