Isle of Islay whisky for auction

The majority of Valinch bottlings are all 50cl and all single casks that are available from the distillery. If you know and have been to the magical island you too can take part in the hand-filling process. The term Valinch is a piece of old whisky terminology that comes from the Spanish & French. It is the word for a pipette that takes the samples from a cask. These bottlings were introduced to the public after the distillery was purchased in 2001 by Murray McDavid.

A young film producer, Stuart Rivens came to Islay to make a film about Bruichladdich distillery for the BBC. He was so taken by the whole process and the distillery he decided to write a book about the story. It was eventually published by Birlinn Press.

This dram was initially matured in a bourbon cask and transferred to be ACEd in a Barbaresco. Only 450 bottles were ever produced.

This is bottle number 3.
